Location of Ansley Park: Just north of Downtown, west off Peachtree Road. Ansley Park is located in the northern part of "Midtown". First developed in 1904, Ansley Park was the dream of Edwin P. Ansley who, along with several prominent Atlanta businessmen of the time, purchased a large plot of land north of the city from longtime owner George Washington Collier. Ansley envisioned a new motorcar-oriented suburb of wide, winding streets and green parks designed to attract Atlantas wealthiest and most prestigious families. In fact, Ansley Park was home to Georgias Governors Mansion for many decades. Ansleys vision of a gracious, harmonious neighborhood that would be an oasis in the midst of the bustling city of Atlanta lives on today, in great part thanks to the efforts of the Ansley Park Civic Association. Since the 1960s, the Association has been an active force in maintaining the neighgorhoods integrity and sense of community.
Ansley Park Community Overview: Ansley Park is arguably Atlanta's most convenient, desirable and prestigious intown neighborhood. Tree-lined sidewalks amble from Atlanta's High Museum of Art, the IBM Tower and the Woodruff Arts Center to Piedmont Park, Atlanta's largest and most beautiful park. Many of these homes were constructed in the early 1900's and have been meticulously maintained and embellished.
Ansley Park hosts a number of elegant homes with diverse architectural styles, created by notable architects such as Neel Reid, W.T. Downing and Philip Shutze in a lush park-like setting of curving streets a series of small parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, America's preeminent landscape designer.
